Sun&Sardinia is located in Monserrato, a big village in the immediate environs of Cagliari. We are set in a quiet district, right in front of our guesthouse with B&B treatment, there is a lovely playground, a school and a very furnished supermarket. A lot of other shops like a pharmacy, bookshop, hairstylist, tobacconist and also delicious trattorias and excellent pizzerias are reachable in 5 minutes walk.

The bus stop and the Metro station are just a few steps away. You can easily reach Cagliari city centre in 15 minutes. 

The University and the Policlinic are less than two kilometres away, easy to reach in 3 minutes by car or public transport.

The Olympic Swimming Pool and the lovely Terramaini Park, with its pink and white wild flamingoes, are just a stone’s throw away.
Elmas Airport is just 8 minutes driving distance and the Astronomical Observatory is only 10 Km away.

If you are here on holiday and wish to visit the breathtaking beaches of the southern coast, consider we are only 200 metres from the junction to the SS 554 which is the main road which leads to the coast. In this way you are out of town in a couple of minutes without the hassle of the city traffic. At the same time, when you come back in the evening you are only 10 minutes by car to Cagliari city centre, so that you can enjoy its movida and lively atmosphere.

Cagliari

Cagliari deserves more than a visit. It is a city full of life, beautiful and interesting. In summer it is full of tourists who visit Sardinia attracted by its amazing famous beaches. However the city offers much more: centuries of a very interesting history, a fantastic geographical position, a wonderful climate, breathtaking views, a mouth-watering cuisine which has received prestigious awards, a dynamic and carefree soul that reveals itself in the sparkling life of its night life, offering the visitor an unforgettable holiday.

Among the most interesting natural sites to visit in the nearby area there is the Stagno di Molentargius, which is considered one of the most interesting wet areas in Europe, mainly thanks to its wellknown inhabitants: the pink flamingoes, which together with plenty of herons, avocets,sultan chickens, moorhens, knights of Italy and many more lovely birds, live undisturbed in this amazing area. Another fascinating place not to be missed is Le Le Saline di Conti Vecchi: an immense naturalistic area and at the same time a relevant industrial archaeological site which describes the history of the Sardinian white gold: salt!!

Necropoli di Tuvixeddu

History and archeology addicts can enjoy a big and deep jump into the past when they visit La Necropoli di Tuvixeddu, an enormous necropolis dating back to the Phoenician period. The ruin is unbelievably surrounded by the buildings of the town of Cagliari in a suggestive unique area.

Not to be missed, if you love sculpture, is a half day tour to the lovely village of San Sperate, famous for its colourful murales, which you can go hunt on the facades of the village houses. The village also boasts the lovely Giardino sonoro, an open air museum where the famous incredibile sculptures, which can sing, carved out from Sardinian stones by the famous artist Pinuccio Sciola, are displayed amongst orange and mandarin trees, creating a suggestive magical atmosphere. Last but not least, the ancient lovely village of Nora, is one of the most visited and appreciated  in Sardinia.  A town with an endless history: at first Phoenician, later Carthaginian, then an important Roman site.

By the way, if you are coming to Sardinia only for its amazing beaches and sea, then, yes, the list is more then endless!

Poetto is the favourite beach of the people who  live in Cagliari, not only because it is so near to the town, but also because it is objectively outstanding! Nine kms of  white sandy beach and  crystal clear water, plenty of restaurants and bars along the promenade, which makes it a a perfect place to enjoy the sunset while having an aperitivo or enjoying a typical Sardinian dinner.

An endless list of breathtaking beaches,  with an incredibile white, soft sand and crystal-clear water with  colours ranging from emerald green to blue sapphire are reachable in half an hour from Sun&Sardinia.

Just to mention some: Chia, Su Giudeu, Cala Cipolla, Mari Pintau, Geremeas, Tuerredda, Cala Pira, Cala Sinzias, Porto giunco, Punta Molentis…..
